This Preview Has All The Reasons Why Fantastic Four Is Worth Seeing

In this new preview, an extended look that debuted with this week’s American Ninja Warrior episode, we get a good and final taste of what is to come with Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four. There’s plenty of footage that’s already been released in previous trailers, but this is easily the most coherent look at the film’s story.

And there’s a nice little Deadpool appearance at the end.

It’s quite possible that Fantastic Four will become one of the best examples of how our current pre-movie over-analyzation culture, something we’ve been exploring at length lately, could get something wrong. Think about it. When the first photo of The Thing leaked last year, it looked terrible. Why? Because it was unfinished. This being a franchise that has been bungled pretty badly in the past, we as a community of bloggers and pundits have been quick to pounce whenever it hasn’t looked great (though in fairness, we’ve been right all along that Michael B. Jordan would be a great Human Torch). There were also rumblings that finishing the film came down to the wire, forcing the studio to forego a 3D conversion.

Whatever the behind the scenes problems it had and whatever we thought about it with limited information many months ago, there’s little denying that this four minute preview makes Fantastic Four look like it could be very good. Our friends at /Film rounded up some buzz from early screenings, which has mostly been positive. It’s entirely possible that the summer of 2015 has one more really good blockbuster for us. And despite all the ups and downs of its production and marketing, it looks like Fantastic Four could be that last surprise.

Fantastic Four is in theaters (along with a Deadpool trailer) this Friday. I, for one, am looking forward to it.
