Quentin Tarantino’s films are often hailed for their quotable dialogue, wild violence, pop culture references, and eclectic ensembles comprised of some of the best actors out there. The director has a style and personality that makes his movies easy to distinguish from other filmmakers. That said, they’re also very cinematic and boast some highly memorable imagery that ranks among the best cinematography of the last 30 years.
Some shot types have become commonplace in Tarantino’s oeuvre. For example, he’s particularly attracted to wide angles, extreme close-ups, and trunk shots. But there’s a lot of variation in his shot selection that keeps his movies unpredictable, interesting, and enhances their storytelling.
With almost 30 years under his belt as a popular filmmaker, there’s an abundance of excellent shots that deserve to be celebrated. For this exercise, though, I’ve selected a few that stand out from the rest. Enjoy.
