Shot by Shot with ‘The Invisible Man’ Trailer

The spirit of H.G. Wells still possesses pop culture’s soul in modern times. The Invisible Man was first published in 1897 and has since inspired countless film adaptations, spinoffs, and homages. Next year, Leigh Whannell and Blumhouse will unleash their interpretation of an Invisible Man movie, and it looks like one of the most terrifying versions to date.

The new movie will portray the titular monster (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) as an abuser who’s out to torment his ex-girlfriend (Elisabeth Moss). According to Moss, the film is a “feminist story of female empowerment,” and the central theme is about “a victim kind of overcoming something.”

Universal Pictures has released a trailer for the film, and if the finished project lives up to the potential shown here, it will be one of 2020’s strongest horror offerings. Check it out below.

The trailer opens in an attorney’s office. Adrian (Cohen) appears to have passed away, but prior to his death, he instructed his lawyer to read a statement to Cecilia (Moss).

Cut to flashbacks of Cecilia escaping Adrian’s house in the middle of the night. She’s terrified, and she has every reason to be, as he shows his violent nature by punching through a car window.
