Netflix’s Second ‘Dark’ Teaser Reveals A Supernatural Twist

By Victor Stiff

Dark answers the question: What if Scott Cooper directed Stranger Things?

Back in March, Netflix dropped a teaser trailer for their upcoming 10-episode mystery series, Dark. Even at less than a minute long, Dark’s teaser packs enough chills to induce a major case of heebie-jeebies. Take a look.

Teaser number two pretty much confirms that there is some type of sci-fi or fantasy element at play. Fortunately, Netflix has released the official details.

Dark is set in a German town in present day where the disappearance of two young children exposes the double lives and fractured relationships among four families. In ten, hour-long episodes, the story takes on a supernatural twist that ties back to the same town in 1986. The series is created by award-winning showrunners Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, who previously received critical acclaim for their movie Who am I (2014).

The first Netflix original series entirely created, produced and shot in Germany [Dark] will launch globally on Netflix Friday, December 1st.

The series’ December 1st launch date is somewhat disappointing. Based on the trailers, synopsis, and title, Dark looks like the perfect choice for a pre-Halloween binge session. Perhaps Netflix feels that Dark will get swallowed up by all the Stranger Things season 2 hysteria. At least December isn’t too far off.
