"The pretty thing you are looking at is me. But it is me that still cannot see any of what is coming." Netflix has debuted the trailer for an indie horror thriller titled I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House, which is actually opening this week in time for Halloween weekend. Best to get it out and available now while people are in the mood for some creepy horror. Ruth Wilson stars as a young nurse who moves into a secluded old house to care for an elderly, reclusive horror novelist who barely even acknowledges her. As expected, not all is right and some kind of malevolent force seems present with them. Things take a turn for the worse after she reads the woman's novel. Also starring Paula Prentiss, Lucy Boynton and Bob Balaban. I like the cinematography in this, the bold framing makes things seem even creepier. Check it out.
Here's the trailer for Oz Perkins' I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House, from YouTube:
Lily (Ruth Wilson) is a naïve young nurse hired to care for aging and reclusive author Iris Bloom (Paula Prentiss) — a character based on American mystery and horror novelist Shirley Jackson — in her isolated country manor. The old woman is lost in her memories and barely acknowledges her caregiver, except to repeatedly call her "Polly," the protagonist of her novel The Lady in the Walls. Though Lily is squeamish and easily frightened, her curiosity gets the better of her and she reads the book: the chilling story of a beautiful murdered woman. I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House is both written & directed by American filmmaker Oz Perkins, of The Blackcoat's Daughter previously. The film just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival a few months ago. Netflix will release Perkins' I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House streaming starting on October 28th - coming up this weekend. Anyone interested in this one?
