Molly Shannon & Jesse Plemons Star in First Trailer for 'Other People'

Other People Trailer

"I get to see my whole world at dinner tonight." Vertical Entertainment has unveiled a trailer for the indie comedy Other People, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on opening night this year. Starring Jesse Plemons and Molly Shannon, the film is about a gay comedy writer who travels home after breaking up with his boyfriend to take care of his mother who learns she's sick with cancer. That may not sound like a comedy, but that's part of the brilliance of this film, as it balances heart and humor in a very mature and entertaining way. The full cast includes Zach Woods, Bradley Whitford, June Squibb, and Judd Apatow's daughter Maude Apatow. One of the better films out of Sundance this year worth watching.

Here's the first official trailer for Chris Kelly's Other People, direct from Vertical's YouTube:

A struggling comedy writer (Plemons), fresh from breaking up with his boyfriend, moves to Sacramento to help his sick mother (Shannon). Living with his conservative father and younger sisters, David feels like a stranger in his childhood home. As his mother worsens, he tries to convince everyone (including himself) he's "doing okay." Other People is both written & directed by Chris Kelly, a comedy writer and director of shorts and work for "The Onion News Network" making his feature directorial debut with this film. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival as the opening night film this year. Vertical Entertainment will release Other People in select theaters starting September 9th later this fall.
