Watch Sir Richard Branson Come to Terms with Mortality in This Exclusive Documentary Clip

dont-look-down-doc

When you think of Sir Richard Branson, the world-renowned business magnate, and adventurer, it’s not likely that you think of a frightened man. From his strong facial features to his flowing blonde locks, the man doesn’t look like a weak human. He’s otherworldly.

This perception that we have of Branson is what makes this exclusive clip from Don’t Look Down, a documentary about Branson’s world record-breaking attempts to cross the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in a hot air balloon, so fascinating. In this scene from filmmaker Daniel Gordon’s intimate film, we see as Branson and his partner Per Lindstrand become concerned over the rising altitude of their hot air balloon. As they reach potentially critical heights, we see this towering icon of modern capitalism realizing that this might be it.

The stunning clip can be watched below. Don’t Look Down premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival on Tuesday, April 19 at 5:30pm EST.

Don’t Look Down reveals the previously untold story behind Sir Richard Branson’s extraordinary, world record-breaking attempts to cross, first the Atlantic and then the Pacific, in a hot air balloon. Using Branson’s first hand account, intimate interviews with the entire team, as well as never-before-seen archival footage from inside the capsule, filmmaker Daniel Gordon captures the intensity and passion in these death defying attempts (five out of six of those who had previously attempted to cross the Atlantic in a hot air balloon had perished).

A dramatic journey with one of the world’s most recognizable and respected modern mavericks, Don’t Look Down is a story of courage, determination, despair, and ultimate triumph.

Don’t Look Down is directed by Daniel Gordon and is a Sundog Pictures / Passion Pictures Co-Production. Producers are Johnny Webb, John Battsek, Iris Maor, and Daniel Gordon. Executive Producers are Sam Anthony, Hugo Heppell, and Garfield Kennedy. Editing is by Andy R. Worboys with cinematography by Nick Bennett and Danny Rohrer. Original music is by Tim Atack.
