Does this Suicide Squad trailer send shivers down your spine?
Too late. Your time has come.
This international trailer for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is a perfect brand of fun, especially considering the aggressively un-fun weekend everyone had with Batman v Superman. Right up to and including the Japanese voiceover saying the title of the film at the end, there’s an energy to this entire endeavor that we haven’t seen from other films in the DC Cinematic Universe. Where BvS is highly self-serious, Suicide Squad appears to be highly self-immolating. It is exactly the kind of done we might hope for from a movie about a team of bad guys doing bad things.
The other fun element here is that Suicide Squad is going to delve into some mysticism to go along with the psychosis. There’s going to be much more to say about this as the film’s August 5th release date gets closer. For now, let’s enjoy this new Suicide Squad trailer:
And for kicks, here’s a Suicide Monster Squad trailer fan edit. Let’s all pour one out and hope that SS ends up with a tone not all that far from Monster Squad, because that would be a lot of fun.
