The first trailer has arrived for Youth, the latest film from Paolo Sorrentino, the director of Italy’s Oscar foreign language winner The Great Beauty. It stars Michael Caine as an acclaimed composer spending some of his apathetic, aging time in the Swiss Alps alongside his daughter (Rachel Weisz) and his best friend (Harvey Keitel).
This is a film we’ve been tracking for a while, mostly because we loved Sorrentino’s previous film, and because it’s got a fabulous cast. But this trailer. Oh, this trailer is absolutely gorgeous. It’s not just the idea of Michael Caine ruminating about growing old that have us interested, it’s the sheer elegance of the entire affair. Plus Caine and Keitel make an interesting pair.
