Earlier today we received an email from a gentleman named Stephen. And like many of the emails we received, there was a movie mash-up video attached. This happens to us daily. Everyone is making a mash-up these days. And while plenty of them are capably made, we simply can’t feature them all (though we do watch them all). This one, however, came with a nice story.
Writes Stephen: “I proposed to my girlfriend of 2 years this past weekend using this video, which is a 10-minute mashup of all the movies/tv shows that we’ve enjoyed together as a couple (thus far). Being a movie/tv/entertainment publication, I figured you guys might enjoy this. I had an absolute blast putting it together, and I couldn’t have been happier with my now fiancée’s reaction (thankfully, she said yes).”
It’s a sweet story on a number of levels. First, congrats to Stephen and his new fiancée. You guys sounds adorable and we want to hang out and watch movies with you. It’s also yet another reminder of the power of good cinema. In movies and television and all the other dramatic arts, we often find ourselves been swept away on journeys that are entertaining and emotionally resonant. We also very often associate movies with major life events. If you need more examples of this, listen to the 100th episode of The Broken Projector, which celebrates all the very personal reasons why we love movies.
Thanks again Stephen, for our daily reminder of the power of great entertainment.
