This Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Is Made Out of Your Middle School Notebook

Fandom is at its best when it is doing something creative, unique and positive. Even when that creativity and positivity is put toward a direct parody (ie. making a version of your favorite movie trailer out of LEGOs), it should be appreciated. Why? Because there’s a lot of negative and nasty elements of fandom out there and those people are missing the point. Being a fan is about enjoying and honoring the things you love, not trolling message boards.

But I digress. Earlier today a Star Wars fan calling himself Opus sent over this Paper Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, which he made for his YouTube channel And The World Was Paper. It feels like the kind of thing kids in the 70s would have made after seeing the first trailer for A New Hope in theaters. Back before there was the Internet to provide endless opportunities to watch said trailer over and over again. I remember seeing Jurassic Park in theaters at age 10. For at least 3 months after that, my school notebooks were filled with drawings of dinosaurs and Jurassic Park Jeeps (I could never get the size of the tires right).

Needless to say, I love what And The World Was Paper is doing here and hope to see more of them in the future. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the kind of thing kids should be drawing in their middle school notebooks. It certainly beats algebra.
