As of now, we still know very little about Star Trek 3 when it comes to the story. What we do know so far is that Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin will all be back on the Enterprise, with Pegg pulling double duty as co-writer of the script with Doug Jung. Getting behind the camera this time is Justin Lin of the Fast & Furious franchise, which has certainly raised some eyebrows. And now it's time for the supporting cast to get filled out, including the new villain for the sequel, and Variety has word that Pacific Rim and Thor: The Dark Wold star Idris Elba is in talks for the key role.
As of now there's no word on who he would play, but there have been rumblings of the Klingons being the main adversaries this time. And when you consider the events of Star Trek Into Darkness, which saw Kahn (Benedict Cumberbatch) stirring up some trouble on the Klingon planet of Kronos, it's no surprise that they might be mad at Starfleet. Elba would make for one hell of a Klingon villain, so we're hoping this deal actually gets finalized. In the meantime, hopefully we hear some story details on this sequel soon, and there's likely some more new cast members coming too, so stay tuned.
