The Archer Team Goes Hollywood in New Season Trailers

Archer: Season 7

When it returns on March 31, Archer will have once again reinvented itself. The sardonic spy show has always found ways to keep things interesting and avoid the repetitive. There was the Archer Vice year, for better or worse. At times it’s a brilliant workplace comedy. At others, it’s a brilliant spoof of every spy from James Bond to Johnny Quest.

For season 7, Team Archer is going Hollywood. Last year trended toward workplace comedy before ending with a Fantastic Voyage/Innerspace two-parter. The ultimate climax of the season saw the team fail in dramatic fashion to save a world-renown scientist, landing them once again on the CIA’s blacklist. What will they do for money, asked Malory Archer in the season’s closing moments.

“I actually have some thoughts on that,” explained her son with his usual swagger.

In the first two promos for season seven, we’re getting a good idea of what Archer’s plan might be: it involves becoming a team of private investigators in Hollywood. The new agency, dubbed “The Figgis Agency,” is the centerpiece of this newly released trailer:

The other promo released by FX is more vague, but it’s also a shot-for-shot remake of the opening of Magnum P.I., so we’ll let it slide:

The new season will involve night-vision gags, Lana continuing to punch her way through Archer’s face and plenty of Pam taking her clothes off for no good reason. It’s going to be all the right kinds of shenanigans when the show returns on March 31.
