Trailer for Animated Version of Moebius and Jodorowsky's 'The Incal'

The Incal

"Here I was staring at it - the origin of everything." This is awesome! Animator Pascal Blais has whipped up a trailer for an adaptation of Moebius & Jodorowsky's graphic novel 'The Incal', published between 1981 and 2014. Blais brought together artists who helped make the original Heavy Metal movie, which featured a few sequences based on Moebius' work, to make this project. It's not an actual production but rather just a passion project and Blais finally polished a few bits and released the trailer online. I wish they were really planning to release the full film, because I would pay to watch this in a heartbeat. Not only is it cool to see some of the animation in this, but it seems like a fun and exciting story to see especially nowadays. Dive in.

Here's the trailer for Pascal Blais' animated version of The Incal, from his own Vimeo (via Open Culture):

Description from Vimeo: "A movie trailer project inspired by the graphic novel 'The Incal', from Moebius and Jodorowsky." Made by Pascal Blais and his animation studio in France. The story is about John Difool, a low-class detective in a degenerate dystopian world, finds his life turned upside down when he discovers an ancient, mystical artifact called "The Incal." Difool’s adventures will bring him into conflict with the galaxy’s greatest warrior, the Metabaron, and will pit him against the awesome powers of the Technopope. Blais says he "a bunch of artists from the original Heavy Metal movie" to make this trailer. "I am convinced would be a great success," he says. Same here. For more info, visit the Vimeo page. New UK Trailer for David Lowery's Marvelous 'Pete's Dragon' Movie

Pete's Dragon Trailer

"There's magic in the woods, if you know where to look for it." Disney UK has debuted a new trailer for the upcoming release of the new Pete's Dragon movie, directed by David Lowery. This wonderful movie stars Oakes Fegley plays Pete, plus Bryce Dallas Howard, Karl Urban, Robert Redford, Wes Bentley, Oona Laurence, Craig Hall and Isiah Whitlock Jr. I've already seen this updated take on the classic story and it's marvelous, a true delight, full of magic and joy and everything you could ask for. This new trailer captures that vibe and that feeling, while also showing lots of footage from the beginning and the end of the movie. There are no big spoilers revealed in this, but it should be enough to convince anyone still on the fence that this movie is definitely worth watching in theaters. In fact, I really can't wait to go see it again.

Here's the newest UK trailer for David Lowery's Pete's Dragon, direct from Disney's YouTube:

You can still watch the first official trailer for Pete's Dragon here, as well as the sing-a-long TV spot.

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon. Directed by David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints), Disney's Pete's Dragon opens in theaters on August 12th this summer. You in?
