‘Mindhunter’ Second Season Officially A Go

By Max Covill

FBI Agent John Douglas has more crimes to solve.

There are few things that have any certainty in this life. Paying taxes and dying is certainly high on that list. The fact that David Fincher TV series about serial killers would be good and renewed for season 2 was pretty likely as well. Netflix has officially announced they are going to continue Mindhunter for the second season in a short promotional video.

Nothing is definite about season 2 at this point. There’s some information about what it might cover though due to the most unlikely of interview crumbs. According to a Billboard interview with series composer Jason Hill, he mentioned that “Next year we’re looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we’ll have a lot more African-American music which will be nice. The music will evolve. It’s intended to support what’s happening with the show and for the show to evolve radically between seasons.” That case took place in the late ’70s where at least 28 African-American children were killed.

The series follows a criminal psychologist who delves into the minds of some of the most villainy individuals imaginable. Joined by FBI Agent Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), Mindhunter chronicles the career of FBI Agent John Douglas from his early days and how his methods would be used to prevent further crimes. Netflix was no doubt inspired to continue with the series given the incredible response to the first season. Currently, the show is rocking a 96% on RT with over 60 positive reviews. That’s the type of response that earns multiple seasons and Netflix while taking a little longer to confirm this renewal, decided it made good business sense to continue the series.

Mindhunter season 2 will likely return next fall.
