Now that you've seen it, what did you think? "We had twenty years to prepare. So did they." Now playing in theaters eveywhere is the long-awaited sci-fi sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence, arriving in theaters exactly 20 years after the original movie first landed. Roland Emmerich returns to direct this massively epic alien invasion action blockbuster, bringing back some of the original cast including Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner. The newcomers this time around include Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, William Fichtner, Angelababy and French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg. So how is it? Does it live up to the original? Or is it a completely disaster? Once you've seen it, leave a comment with your own thoughts on Emmerich's Independence Day: Resurgence.

Editor's Note: I haven't had the chance to see the movie in Germany yet, but will update when I do get to see it. I'm still looking forward to it! In the meantime, here's a brief excerpt from Daniel Schindel's review published on The Film Stage: "Emmerich, usually a maestro of catastrophe, demonstrates varying degrees of interest in constructing large-scale setpieces here. In a near-blasphemous move, the camera cuts away almost entirely from the biggest explosion in the film. Though that has nothing on the brutally rushed ending — or 'ending,' given the gotta-hook-em-for-a-sequel angle. And yet, despite all this, Independence Day: Resurgence still emerges as one of the better blockbusters of this summer, and that’s only halfway damning with faint praise. It’s a mess, but I grinned a good portion of the way through." Do you agree?
What did you think of Roland Emmerich's Independence Day: Resurgence? Epic or disaster?
