"Right now, this is your first real test." Bleecker Street Media has debuted the first official trailer for Matt Ross' Captain Fantastic, one of my favorite films from Sundance this year, starring Viggo Mortensen as a father of kids raising them to be totally disconnected from the woes of society. The film is about the way this family exists, inspired by Noam Chomsky, living off the grid and completely on their own. Things get a bit wild when they have to attend a funeral and they venture back into society. I genuinely LOVE this film, it will be one of my Top 10 of the year - read my review from Sundance. It's extremely intelligent, funny, and thought-provoking. Do not miss this, give it a chance, and I hope you fall in love with it the way I did. Enjoy.
Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Matt Ross' Captain Fantastic, originally from IMDb:
In the forests of the Pacific Northwest, a father devoted to raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education is forced to leave his paradise and enter the world, challenging his idea of what it means to be a parent. Captain Fantastic is both written & directed by American filmmaker Matt Ross, of 28 Hotel Rooms and a few shorts previously. The film originally premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival - here's my glowing review. Bleecker Street Media will release Captain Fantastic in select theaters starting July 8th this summer. Go see this! It's one of my favorite films of the year - highly recommended.
