Mark Wahlberg has faced Transformers, terrorists, corrupt cops, and deadly trees. This time, he's facing an oil drilling rig that experiences a deadly blowout and threatens everyone on board. Deepwater Horizon is the latest film from Lone Survivor director Peter Berg, chronicling the real life disaster that happened nearly six years ago. The exposition in this trailer juxtaposed with the dramatized disaster is done very nicely, but things really get intense when the rig goes up in a huge fireball. This just might be good.
Here's the first Deepwater Horizon trailer from Lionsgate:
On April 20, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor), this story honors the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever. Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O'Brien and Kate Hudson star in the true story with a script from Matthew Michael Carnahan and Matthew Sand. Lionsgate releases the film September 30th.
