"Love doesn't work this way - you can't take everything and stuff it back in the box." Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the first trailer for the indie comedy Maggie's Plan from director Rebecca Miller, about a woman whose plan to have a baby on her own is derailed when she falls in love with John, a married man. Greta Gerwig and Ethan Hawke star as the couple at the center, along with Julianne Moore, Travis Fimmel, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Wallace Shawn. This film has been playing at festivals ever since first premiering at the Toronto Film Festival last year, including at Sundance, New York and the Berlin Film Festival. This might not be for everyone, but if you're interested in a comedy about an affair, have at it.
Here's the first official trailer for Rebecca Miller's Maggie's Plan, originally from Entertainment Weekly:
From Sundance: Academic advisor Maggie (Greta Gerwig) is determined to have a baby, but she can’t seem to make any relationship last long enough to reach the precipice of familial bliss. Opting to fulfill her maternal dreams alone, she secures a sperm donation from a Brooklyn pickle entrepreneur named Guy. But before this process is complete, a budding romance springs up with John (Ethan Hawke), a new adjunct professor she meets at work. Mired in an unhappy marriage-with-children to Georgette (Julianne Moore), John leaps at the chance to end things with his eccentric and domineering wife. Maggie's Plan is written & directed by filmmaker Rebecca Miller, of Angela, Personal Velocity, The Ballad of Jack & Rose, and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee previously. The film opens in theaters starting May 20th this summer.
