"It's love. This time, it's love…" StudioCanal UK has debuted the first official teaser trailer for Todd Haynes' Carol, a gorgeous romantic drama set in the 1950s starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. The film earned rave reviews out of this year's Cannes Film Festival (read Marco's review here) and is supposedly one of the best features of the year, about love "against the odds" set in a totally different time than today. This is just a very beautiful teaser using nothing but music and some incredible footage to make you feel like this film is going to win over your heart. The cast includes Kyle Chandler, Sarah Paulson, Jake Lacy, Cory Michael Smith and John Magaro. I'm very much looking forward to this film, looks lovely. What a tease.
Here's the first teaser trailer for Todd Haynes' Carol, found on YouTube (via The Film Stage):
Starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara & set against the glamorous backdrop of 1950s New York, Carol is an achingly beautiful depiction of love against the odds. From the author of The Talented Mr. Ripley and acclaimed director Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven, I’m Not There, Mildred Pierce) comes a powerful drama about a married woman who risks everything when she embarks on a romance with a younger department store worker. Carol is directed by American filmmaker Todd Haynes, of I'm Not There most recently. The script is by Phyllis Nagy, based on Patricia Highsmith's novel. First premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival. The Weinstein Company will release Carol in theaters on November 20th this fall.
