Actor Jay Baruchel Will Direct 'Goon' Sequel 'Last of the Enforcers'

Goon Sequel

Now this is good news. THR is reporting that the sequel to Goon, the awesome cult hockey movie starring Seann William Scott, will be directed by actor Jay Baruchel, making his directorial debut with this film. Baruchel is a major proponent behind the entire film, as he's co-writing the screenplay with Jesse Chabot, and also starring again as Seann William Scott's character's friend Pat. Of course they've got Seann William Scott back as violent hockey player Doug "The Thug" Glatt and they're already gearing up to start filming in June in Toronto. I've got a good feeling about this, it all sounds quite promising, especially with Baruchel. It was also revealed the title of this follow-up is Goon: Last of the Enforcers. Bring on the hockey fights.

The film will be produced by David Gross, Jesse Shapira, and Jeff Arkuss of No Trace Camping and André Rouleau of Caramel Films. Evan Goldberg is executive producing. In the original Goon, Seann William Scott plays a guy named Doug Glatt who gets to live out his dream of playing professional hockey even though he beats up everyone he meets (on the ice). The film was better than expected and earned a cult following, at least here in the US (since hockey is much more important in Canada). If you haven't seen it, it's a fun watch sometime. Baruchel is a smart guy and a talented actor, this seems like the perfect opportunity for him to try his hand at directing. He knows the people, the places, the game, this should turn out great. Stay tuned.
