Hot on the heels of a new deal that Disney struck with IMAX, this time it's Warner Bros. Pictures who has set up a lucrative new deal for up to 30 films that will be arriving through 2020. As you would expect, the deal includes Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and several other DC Comics tentpole releases coming in the next few years. Outside of the comic book realm, Godzilla 2 will also get an IMAX release as well as The LEGO Movie Sequel and the forthcoming spin-off films. And the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will also be hitting the giant screen.
Warner Bros. also has IMAX plans for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and In the Heart of the Sea later this year, as well as the new Tarzan, Guy Ritchie's King Arthur movie Knights at the Round Table, Geostorm, Jungle Book: Origins and several other unnamed titles. Warner Bros. Pictures' president of domestic distribution, Dan Fellman, adds some standard publicity fluff, "IMAX provides an immersive moviegoing experience that is unparalleled. We have an exciting and extremely diverse slate and look forward to giving audiences the opportunity to see a variety of films on the largest possible canvas.” I'm sure they don't mind the extra cash from the higher ticket price too.
