"You are dead center of the greatest scientific event in the history of man." After writing sci-fi favorites such as Sunshine and 28 Days Later, Alex Garland is behind the camera this time as the director of Ex Machina . The sci-fi thriller stars Oscar Isaac as a reclusive technology CEO who invites Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson) to his massive estate and hidden research facility to test out a new artificially intelligent android named Eva (Alicia Vikander). But soon Caleb doesn't know whether he trusts the creator or the creation as he's manipulated by both. It seems a bit derivative, but pretty intense with solid performances. Watch?
Here's the second US trailer for Alex Garland's Ex Machina from A24:
You can still watch both the US an international teaser trailers right here.
Ex Machina is written and directed by Alex Garland (writer of Dredd, Sunshine, 28 Days Later). Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson), a 24 year old coder at the world’s largest internet company, wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to Nathan (Oscar Isaac), the reclusive CEO of the company. But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he finds that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world’s first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl (Alicia Vikander). The film will be released in the UK starting early January next year. A24 Films just picked up Ex Machina for US release starting April 10th, 2015 next spring. We expect this to premiere at somewhere like Sundance before release. How does that look?
