Warner Bros. Turning Animated 'Adventure Time' into Feature Film

The wild and wacky journeys of Finn and Jake are heading to the big screen. Deadline has word that Cartoon Network's hit animated series Adventure Time is being developed by the channel's sister company Warner Bros. Pictures for a feature film adaptation. The LEGO Movie co-director and producer Chris McKay and Roy Lee are producing the film, so it's bound to be great. For those who don't know, the series follows a 12-year old boy named Finn and his talking dog best friend Jake who go on endless quests to protect their beloved Land of Ooo, usually from the Ice King who is searching for his Princess Bubblegum.

It's just as cooky as it sounds, and the series has fans young and old, not unlike cartoons such as "SpongeBob SquarePants" or "Ren & Stimpy" from the 90s. It sounds like the film is early in development, and we may not see it for awhile. First of all, it's animated, so it'll take awhile to be completed, but McKay is also set to direct the LEGO Batman spin-off film and Roy Lee is producing that along with The LEGO Movie 2, not to mention the fact that both are producing the Ninjago spin-off as well.

Still, it's exciting to know that "Adventure Time" will be getting the big screen treatment. The series counts some interesting talents among the voice cast with the likes of Mark Hamill and Cloris Leachman playing recurring characters. In addition, there have been great guest stars such as Andy Samberg, George Takei, Paul Reubens, Neil Patrick Harris. There's bound to be some big names lending their voice to the eventual film, though the original cast will likely stay the same as the series, so this should be fun. If you want to get in on the craziness, "Adventure Time" is available on Netflix Instant right now, so check it out. Cool?
