They Really Did Put Christopher Plummer in ‘All the Money in the World’

By Max Covill

“Just like that, he’s gone.”

Following an unprecedented turnaround unlike any in the history of film, we now have our first footage of Christopher Plummer as J. Paul Getty. Word came just a few weeks ago that Kevin Spacey would be replaced in the film due to numerous sexual assault allegations and that Plummer would be taking over the role. Plummer was originally director Ridley Scott’s first choice, but Sony suggested to use the more familiar name in Spacey for the coveted role.

The film has been back in production and Ridley Scott has been working furiously to make the release date of December 22nd. The film skipped its AFI premier and perhaps that would’ve signaled that the film would wait until sometime next year to release, but with another J. Paul Getty adaption from a rival company in the works, Sony felt like they had to be first. Now comes the first footage of Christopher Plummer as J. Paul Getty in a new TV spot.
