Nicole Gustafsson’s beautiful cover art makes this Mondo’s latest must-have vinyl.
In recent years, the folks at Mondo have branched out significantly. If you’re an old schooler such as myself, you remember them as having a t-shirt shop at the Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin. They gained the most notoriety as a purveyor of beautiful movie posters — prints from some of the world’s most talented artists. And in recent years, they’ve dipped their toes into the worlds of collectible figures and more impressively, movie soundtracks on vinyl.
With their annual celebration of all things pop culture, MondoCon, on the horizon, they’re debuting an exclusive release of Disney•Pixar’s Ratatouille on vinyl. With cover art from Nicole Gustafsson.
The soundtrack — which is pressed on 180-gram Strawberry and Cheese-colored vinyl — will be exclusively available at MondoCon, which is happening in Austin this coming weekend, November 4-5. A regular version of the soundtrack will be made available online at a later date.
What is MondoCon? I’ll let Mondo’s David Rancatore explain: “MondoCon is a celebration of everything Mondo loves, including movies, art, comics, music, toys, and food, and we’re excited to share our love for the city of Austin by holding the convention right downtown at the Austin American-Statesman. The venue used to house the newspaper’s printing presses and is a great space for all of the amazing artists, exhibitors, attendees, and panels this weekend. We’re thrilled to host our evening screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar, the home of Mondo for many years, and for our fans to enjoy the awesome Drafthouse movie-going experience.”
