The design guru’s influence continues to be felt.
Nothing’s worse than lazy titles. Minimalist titles, maximalist titles – anything’s better than someone slapping some semi-opaque words down over the first scene of the movie or TV show.
With a formal element an audience knows is coming, creators that think outside the box to make their credits artful breathe life into the medium. None was better at this, or more famous at it, than Saul Bass. The graphic designer’s innovations led to a horde of imitators and, as this designation softens as time goes on, disciples.
