"My legions of the desert will bring them reckoning!" Ready for more? Lionsgate has unleashed a second trailer for Alex Proyas' Gods of Egypt, the fanciful, colorful action-adventure epic inspired by the classic Egyptian mythological Gods. The first trailer was one of the most interesting trailers we've seen all year, with so much wacky footage of giant CG gods and monsters and bugs and all kinds of crazy shit. This trailer is still filled with the same craziness, but at least it looks a bit better. The cast includes Gerard Butler, Brenton Thwaites, Chadwick Boseman, Elodie Yung, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, plus Rufus Sewell, Abbey Lee, Geoffrey Rush. I'm sure most will say this still looks awful but it does look amusing. Lionsgate even released a note about the casting, but that didn't seem to help much. Give it another shot.
Here's the second official trailer for Alex Proyas' Gods of Egypt, direct from Lionsgate's YouTube:
In this spectacular action-adventure inspired by the classic mythology of Egypt, the survival of mankind hangs in the balance as an unexpected mortal hero Bek (Brenton Thwaites) undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love. In order to succeed, he must enlist the help of the powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the epic final confrontation. Gods of Egypt is directed by Alex Proyas (of The Crow, Dark City, I Robot, Knowing) from a screenplay by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless. Gods of Egypt arrives on February 26th.
