"You and I both know why the brothers are here…" Music Box Films has debuted an official US trailer for Pablo Larraín's new film The Club, known as El Club when it originally premiered at the Berlinale Film Festival. This might be an interesting double feature with the excellent Spotlight, considering it also deals with abusive Catholic priests, these ones hiding out in a small town in Chile. The film won the Silver Bear in Berlin, and earned rave reviews as follow-up to Larraín's No from 2013. I saw The Club in Berlin and was very impressed, it's a dark, captivating film that daring cinephiles should seek out. Give the trailer a watch.

A crisis counselor is sent by the Catholic Church to a small Chilean beach town where disgraced priests and nuns, suspected of crimes ranging from child abuse to baby-snatching from unwed mothers, live secluded, after an incident occurs. The Club, or El Club, is directed by prominent Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín, of the films No, Tony Monero, Fuga and Post Mortem previously. The screenplay is by Guillermo Calderón, Pablo Larraín and Daniel Villalobos. The film premiered at the Berlinale Film Festival in 2015, where it won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize. Music Box Films will release starting February 5th, 2016.
