As we’ve noted many times before, there’s something crafty about a good mash-up. Anyone can take one trailer and drop in the audio from another trailer, making it look goofy and perhaps get a little lucky with timing. But a really good mash-up blends visuals, scores, dialogue and even color-balances so that two movies turn into one single entity, something entirely new and different.
That’s what J. Jason Lee and his zenlike productions have done with their new mash-up Trek Wars: The Darkness Awakens. Blending together two movies that have the distinct thumbprint of J.J. Abrams, Star Trek: Into Darkness and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the final result is a really fun and interesting trailer with a life of its own.
So here you go. A monument of sacrilege and lens flares, this is the J.J. Abrams-gasm that is Trek Wars: The Darkness Awakens:
