Remember sweding?
It feels like a million years since we’ve talked about his amateur homage-making style. This used to be a huge thing, especially around the time that the Michel Gondry film Be Kind Rewind hit theaters. But that was 2008. And sweding, so far as we can tell, may have peaked when a group of German film fans sweded 70 movies in under 10 minutes. That was peak swede.
As I’ve been informed by a few of the folks around our virtual office, sweding never really left. We just don’t talk about it that much anymore. Mostly because there are supercuts, mash-ups and other nerdery out there that have grasped our attention. But sweding lives on and now we’ve got a version of the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens that is made with nothing but love, cardboard and moxie. Also, it’s got the kind of score that makes you giggle. You can watch along below.
Hat tip to Dave Gonzales.
