Jake Gyllenhaal Struggles to Recover in Official 'Demolition' Trailer

Demolition Trailer

"I find I'm suddenly starting to notice things I never saw before. Well, maybe I saw them, I just wasn't paying attention." Fox Searchlight has debuted the first official trailer for Jean-Marc Vallée's Demolition, the latest film from the director who made Wild and Dallas Buyers Club. In this film, Jake Gyllenhaal stars as an investment banker who loses his wife in car accident. He struggles to figure out how to recover and make a new life. The cast includes Chris Cooper, Naomi Watts, Heather Lind, and Judah Lewis. I like the story behind this, and I like that we will see a banker learn what it's like to live a real life, but I'm still weary of Vallée as his last two films were just okay despite featuring great performances. Take a look.

Here's the first official trailer for Jean-Marc Vallée's Demolition, direct from YouTube:

A successful investment banker, Davis (Gyllenhaal), struggles after losing his wife in a tragic car crash. Despite pressure from his father-in-law (Cooper) to pull it together, Davis continues to unravel. What starts as a complaint letter to a vending machine company turns into a series of letters revealing startling personal admissions. Davis’ letters catch the attention of customer service rep Karen (Watts) and, amidst emotional and financial burdens of her own, the two strangers form an unlikely connection. With the help of Karen and her son (Lewis), Davis starts to rebuild, beginning with the demolition of the life he once knew. Demolition is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (The Young Victoria, Dallas Buyers Club, Wild), from a screenplay by Bryan Sipe. After debuting at TIFF, this will open in theaters April 8th, 2016 next spring.
