Briefly: Sony Pictures has announced a number of upcoming release dates, confirming and revealing a few new titles across the next four years. Among the titles listed are two sequels we knew were coming, but now they officially have release dates. Bad Boys 3 and 4 are now set for release in 2017 and 2019, respectively. As of reports in June, rumors were that Joe Carnahan was going to write & direct Bad Boys 3, reuniting Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for another outing. Michael Bay may still be involved as a producer, but he's busy off making another Transformers aside from that 13 Hours movie. Well now we know there's definitely two new Bad Boys movies coming, two years apart. I just hope they're worth the long wait and all this hype.
According to The Wrap, the release dates are as follows: Bad Boys 3 on February 17th, 2017 and Bad Boys 4 on July 3rd, 2019. That's the very final listing on their release date updates, which includes mostly 2017 and 2016 listings including Edgar Wright's Baby Driver (March 17th, 2017), Nikolaj Arcel's The Dark Tower adaptation (January 13th, 2017), a Jumanji reboot (December 25th, 2016 - Christmas), and Antoine Fuqua's The Magnificent Seven remake (September 23rd, 2016). The original Bad Boys first hit in 1995, and 2003, eight years apart. And they're actually awesome action movies, better than expected. By the time this comes out it might end up being 14 years since the last one. I'm curious to hear why Will Smith said now's the time.
