Watch: Full Trailer for HBO's Sports Comedy 'Ferrell Takes the Field'

Ferrell Takes the Field

10 teams. 10 positions. One Will Ferrell. Are you ready to rumble with the one, the only, Señor Ferrell?? HBO's next sports faux-documentary (following the absurdly hilarious 7 Days in Hell) is one titled Ferrell Takes the Field, in which Will Ferrell plays all 10 positions in baseball playing on 10 different teams in one day. I really admire what HBO is doing with Funny or Die and these sports sketches, sort of extending the online content into something that is worthy of being presented cinematically (and if you haven't seen it, I recommend Casa de mi Padre). This may not be groundbreaking, but it looks like it will make me laugh.

Here's the full-length trailer for Brian McGinn's Ferrell Takes the Field, direct from HBO's YouTube:

"There's nothing more American than grabbing a hotdog and heading to the ballpark to watch 9 men from the Dominican Republic make magic on the field. [Well,] 8 Dominicans and 1 guy from Irvine, California." Ferrell Takes the Field is the latest creation of the Funny or Die + HBO partnership. The film is directed by Brian McGinn, a veteran filmmaker/editor for Funny or Die behind numerous sketches. This special HBO presentation is also dedicated to the charity Cancer for College. Ferrell Takes the Field premieres on HBO on Saturday, September 12th at 10PM, though it should also be available in the HBO Go & HBO Now apps.
