Jeff Nichols' Sci-Fi Movie 'Midnight Special' Delayed Until March 2016

Midnight Special

We expected this was coming, we were just waiting for the announcement. Our friends at ERCBoxoffice have confirmed that Warner Bros is delaying Jeff Nichols' big studio sci-fi movie Midnight Special until March of 2016. It was originally scheduled for release on Thanksgiving, November 25th, later this fall. The film is finished and has been test screening all year along, with reports that it needs some additional work surfacing across the internet. Jeff Nichols' (seen above) Midnight Special, featuring Kirsten Dunst, Joel Edgerton, Adam Driver, Michael Shannon, Sam Shepard, will now open on March 18th, 2016 next year.

Jeff Nichols' Midnight Special was being billed as more of a family film, and it certainly has that sounds to it. In an interview Nichols explained the origin of the idea behind this: "I want to make a 1960's biker film. I want to make a big, PG summer blockbuster family film, kind of like I want to revamp Tremors. I've got an idea for that. That kind of movie." The story follows a father and son who go on the run after learning the child possesses special powers. While we wait for the release of this film, get caught up with all of Nichols' previous films: Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter and Mud. We'll be watching for the latest updates from here.
