Official US Trailer for Zhang Yimou's Wonderful Film 'Coming Home'

Coming Home

"Yu, it's me!" Sony Pictures Classics has debuted a trailer for Zhang Yimou's film Coming Home, starring Gong Li and Chen Daoming. This beautiful, heartbreaking story is about a man and a woman, who love each other, but they're torn apart. When an accident leaves his wife, Lu Yanshi, unable to remember him or anything before the accident, he tries everything in vane to remind her of his love for her. One of the ways he reaches out to her is through the piano, and the song he plays for her, which you hear in this and it makes me tear up every time I hear it. So beautiful. I first saw this film at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival (original teaser | my review) and loved it. I've been waiting for it to get a released ever since. Finally later this year.

Here's the official US trailer for Zhang Yimou's Coming Home, in high def from Apple:

Coming Home Poster

Coming Home, or Homecoming or Return as it's also known, is directed by prominent Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou (of Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Curse of the Golden Flower, The Flowers of War) from a screenplay written by Zou Jingshi, based on the novel by Geling Yan. Inspired by Geling Yan's novel The Criminal Lu Yanshi, the story spans from the 1920's to the 1990's, following a husband's (Chen Daoming) separation from his family and eventual return home, where he is sent to a labor camp. Coming Home first premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival as an Out-of-Competition film. It opened 4K IMAX in China back when it hits theaters in May of 2014, setting records. Sony Pictures Classics will finally open Coming Home in select US theaters starting on September 9th. Read my glowing review from Cannes 2014 here.
