Will she finally be nominated for this one? Find out this fall, when Universal Pictures releases… By the Sea, the new film written & directed by Angelina Jolie Pitt. Yes, that's her actual name now. Jolie Pitt has fully transitioned into being a filmmaker more than anything, but also stars in this one. Written, directed and produced by Angelina Jolie Pitt, the film stars Brad and Angelina as husband and wife staying at a seaside resort in 1970s France. Universal will be releasing By the Sea in theaters starting November 13th, according to Deadline, putting it up against The 33, Rock The Kasbah and Rings that same weekend. We have yet to hear much about this one, but it could build plenty of buzz before then. First photo seen above.

Written, directed and produced by the newly last-named Jolie Pitt, By The Sea follows American writer Roland (Pitt) and his wife Vanessa (Jolie Pitt), who arrive in a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France, their marriage in apparent crisis. As they spend time with fellow travelers, including young newlyweds Lea (Mélanie Laurent) and François (Melvil Poupaud) and village locals Michel (Niels Arestrup) and Patrice (Richard Bohringer), the couple begins to come to terms with unresolved issues in their own lives. By the Sea is inspired by European cinema and theater of the 1960s and ’70s. “This is a story about a relationship derailed by loss, the tenacity of love and the path to recovery and acceptance,” Jolie Pitt said in a statement. “It has been a privilege to explore these universal human experiences with such a generous and talented cast and crew.”
We'll keep an eye out for trailers and other updates before the film's release this fall. It will likely also show up at some film festivals later in the year. As for Jolie (Pitt), I am curious to see if she has improved at all as I wasn't particularly a big fan of Unbroken. It's a nice film, with an inspirational message, but had odd structuring and lacked much needed polishing. Then again I'm not sure if she's just continuing on doing what she's doing, and hopefully this film will be better than the last. She has amassed quite a cast for By the Sea and the story sounds interesting, but I'll have to see some more footage before I can say I'm totally in.
