The 'Star Wars' Easter Egg in Marvel's Phase Two Films You Can't Miss

Star Wars

There's always tons of easter eggs for comic book fans in each and every Marvel Studios film. However, now that Disney owns both Marvel and Lucasfilm, can we anticipate any easter eggs for Star Wars in the Marvel cinematic universe? Well, yes and no. While there's likely not any easter eggs referencing characters or mythology in Star Wars within the world of The Avengers, the comic book film studio's head honcho Kevin Feige revealed that there's actually a major easter egg that is detailed in every single Phase Two film thus far, and the trend has been confirmed to continue in The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man.

Now before we go further, this could be a minor spoiler, so beware. Kevin Feige told CinemaBlend:

"So is this a spoiler for Ant-Man… not really. I’m obsessed with Star Wars. Who’s not? I’m 40 years old. I’m in the movie business. I went to USC. So I’m obsessed with Star Wars – and it didn’t start out as intentional, but it became intentional, including that beat that you referenced. It sort of happens in every Star Wars movie, but I was sort of looking at it, ‘Okay, is Phase Two our Empire Strikes Back?’ Not really, but tonally things are a little different. Somebody gets their arm cut off in every Phase Two movie. Every single one."

And if you need that illustrated in a video, here you go:

The Avengers: Age of Ultron is written & directed by Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Serenity). Earth's mightiest heroes must once again assemble when a super intelligent robot created by Tony Stark created to help fight any threats that might harm the world actually turns against him and the human race. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson all return in the sequel to Marvel's The Avengers with new names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen joining the team. Disney & Marvel release the film this summer on May 1st. You ready?
