Shia LeBeouf Making Some 'American Honey' for 'Fish Tank' Director

Since leaving the Transformers franchise, Shia La Beouf has made some interesting choices. No, we're not talking about his tabloid headline making behavior (although that is somewhat concerning), but rather the kind of films he's been making. His projects have ranged from the prohibition era thriller Lawless to the stylish Charlie Countryman, not to mention a revealing role in Nymphomaniac and the war drama Fury, and, of course, a peculiar turn in Sia's music video for "Elastic Heart." Now LaBeouf is looking to work with Fish Tank director Andrea Arnold for her first film in the US, appropriately called American Honey .

The film, which Variety reports was also scripted by Arnold, will follow a runaway teenager who’s selling magazine subscriptions around the United States and somehow gets caught up in a whirlwind of hard-partying, law-bending and young love. Sounds like an interesting story to put in the hands of Arnold, who also directed a recent adaptation of Wuthering Heights. The film is slated to go on sale at the Cannes Film Festival next month with Protagonist Pictures parading it around France. Coincidentally enough, Arnold was just the head of the Critics' Week jury at Cannes last year. We'll keep an ear out to hear more.
