We're bound to be getting plenty of Marvel updates this week with the arrival of The Avengers: Age of Ultron hitting theaters beginning at 7pm on Thursday, April 30th. And today, we already have one update about the next film from Marvel Studios slated to go into production in May. Captain America: Civil War will have Iron Man (Tony Stark) and Captain America (Chris Evans) coming to blows, but there will still be a villain in play. We've known for awhile that Daniel Bruhl will play that villain, but there's been some confusion as to who he will actually play. Now we have confirmation from the actor himself. Read on!
Bruhl was speaking to The Independent (via ComingSoon) that he's playing the villain Baron Helmut Zemo. If you're not familiar with that villain, he's the son of a Hydra scientist who fought Captain America during World War II and formed The Masters of Evil. Helmut Zemo became a mutated man after falling into a boiling vat of his father's chemical Adhesive X. After this, he teamed up with Arnim Zola and Batroc, who both appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We're not sure how he's going to come into play during Civil War, but Bruhl should make for a great Marvel villain.
Keep in mind that Helmut Zemo won't be the only villain that causes trouble in Captain America: Civil War, because Frank Grillo has been confirmed to come back as Crossbones as well. He's part of a crowded cast that includes a whole slew of heroes, making this more like The Avengers 2.5 than just a Captain America sequel. Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie will be back as Black Widow, Hawkeye and Falcon, and Elizabeth Olsen has just been confirmed to return as Scarlet Witch as well. And there's also a new hero entering the fray with Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, and whoever Marvel ends up casting as the new Spider-Man (check out the shortlist of choices). Stay tuned for more.
