Ben Foster to Play the Villain in Ron Howard's 'Inferno' Adaptation

After solidifying most of the cast last month, Ron Howard's adaptation of Dan Brown's adventure thriller Inferno , one more key cast member has been added to the mix. Tom Hanks returns as Robert Langdon, the symbologist who always gets in over his head from The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons in a story that sees him suddenly waking up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, forcing him to team up with Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) to help recover his memories in order to prevent some psychopath from unleashing a global plague that is tied to the classic Dante's Inferno. Now Ben Foster is set to play the film's villain.

THR reports Foster's role will be a genius scientist who is obsessed with the Inferno and has also dreamed up a plot to solve the world’s overpopulation by releasing a virus. Meanwhile, as we learned previously, Irrfan Khan is playing Harry Sims, also known as The Provost, Omar Sy has the role of Christoph Bruder and Sidse Babett Knudsen is playing Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey, the head of the World Health Organization. Production is slated to start in April in Europe and the film is set to hit theaters on October 14th, 2016 .
